We let our fathers, and society, define for us what it means to be a man. For many, being a 'man' is their identity. The problem? We all have different ideas of what that even means.
Roles are important. They help us establish our identity, help us give voice to who we believe ourselves to be, who we want to be. They are the measuring sticks we hold up to our lives, and more often than not we're falling far, far short.

While some might consider this a review, and in many ways, it will be, it's also meant to be an examination of Patrick Rothfuss's writing style. There is a lot to be learned by reading someone's work. It gives some insight into their mind, how they process, and their interests.
Writing brings me to life. It brings the world into sharper focus, helps me process difficult emotions. It's a gift that I received and a gift I will share.
Keep moving forward, knowing that you will fail, but don't forget - failure doesn't define you. It might loom, big as a mountain, but it will soon be a speck in the distance.
